Dinner Guest
The city of Port Rath recently suffered through an
outbreak of plague which killed many of the population. Those who didn’t
die or flee the city turned to other ways to survive the shortages of supplies.
Preying on their neighbors and other victims they fed their hellish appetites,
surrendering their very souls to the Gods of Corruption and Death. Most
areas of the city have emptied in one way or the other. Buildings once
belonging to wealthy upper class families now are boarded up and vacant.
In some cases, homes have been burned or razed to the ground. Now, even
after the plague, people are warned against moving about the city at night
because of roving gangs or worse. Law and order are non-existent. The once
proud city guard has deteriorated into nothing more than cutthroats and
thieves. The waterfront area around the docks was the hardest hit when
the plague first came in aboard a merchant vessel. Now, there are abandoned
ships sitting at anchor as their crews either died or left the city.
One such house has become home to an evil cleric
of a dark god and his undead minions. The plague has provided him with
a steady supply of dead with which to build his undead army and take control
of the docks area for now and soon the entire city. To keep his followers
fed he lures unsuspecting inhabitants and travellers into his lair to be
slaughtered
